Two females and one male have been rescued from a house fire in Little Dewlands on Wednesday evening.

Fire crews from Verwood, Cranborne, Ferndown and Ringwood attended the scene, along with the Police, Ambulance and the Red Cross support vehicle.

One female had managed to escape from a first floor window via a ladder provided by a neighbour as emergency services arrived, but another female and male were still in the smoke-filled property.

The male was at the same first floor window but was having problems getting through. As attempts were being made to rescue the male, crews smashed down the door and a second female exited.

Two breathing apparatus wearers entered to reach the male and assist with his rescue. As the team reached the bedroom crews had just managed to remove the window and rescue the male via the ladder.

Verwood Fire Brigade report that smoke alarms gave early warning and then fire control operators stayed on the line giving fire survival information until the crews arrived.

Two casualties were conveyed to hospital as a precaution. The fire was extinguished using two hose reel jets, six breathing apparatus and positive pressure ventilation.

The incident happened around 11.30pm and emergency services left the scene at 2am.
