Morrisons requests 24 hour premises licence

Verwood’s Morrisons store has requested to vary its premises licence operating hours to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The supermarket wants to change the hours for the sale by retail of alcohol and opening to 00.00 to 24.00 and to permit late night refreshment from 11pm till 5am, Monday to Sunday inclusive.

If granted, it means the store and refueling station has the flexibility to open for longer hours at certain times, such as Christmas and other special occasions without having to gain permission each time.

Granting of the amendments does not necessarily mean the store will change its current opening times – which are 7am till 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am till 4pm on Sunday.

Morrisons is currently the only supermarket operating in Verwood, but Lidl has recently been given planning permission to build a store on Ringwood Road.

Details of the request, and information on how to respond to the consultation, can be found here.

Lidl Ferndown has also recently requested to change its premises licence hours from 8am till 11pm Monday to Saturday, whilst the Ringwood store has a licence to trade alcohol from 7am till 11pm. Both currently close at 10pm Monday to Saturday.

Morrisons Plc has not responded to a request for comment at the time of publication when contacted by VerwoodToday.
