Adam Parsons to leave his role as Headteacher at Verwood First School

Verwood First School Headteacher Adam Parsons is leaving the school after 18 years in the post.

Initio Learning Trust announced the news to parents on Friday afternoon saying Mr Parsons has tendered his resignation and will leave at the end of the summer term.

Liz West, CEO of Initio Learning Trust (the new name for Wimborne Academy Trust) said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Parsons for everything he has contributed including his unending commitment, dedication and contribution to Verwood First School and the wider Trust.

“His dedication and passion to the children, staff and wider community has been significant and effective.

“I am sure you will join me in wishing Mr Parsons every success as he begins his retirement.”

Mr Parsons wrote to parents at the school, saying his role for the last 18 years has been one of the greatest privileges of his life but the time is right for him to try something new, and the time is right for the Initio Learning Trust to move the school on in its journey.

He said: “I have so much enjoyed watching your children grow and become great learners and great people. Thank you so much for entrusting your children and their education to us!

“This role was my second Headship which I took up in September 2005. Little did I think I would still be here in 2023! The role has been inspiring and challenging and joyful and this really special school got hold of me!”

A recruitment drive for Mr Parson’s successor will begin shortly.
