Children’s football goal destroyed in act of selfless vandalism in Verwood

A parent has hit out at the vandals who destroyed a football goal bought by pocket money saved up by his son and his friends.

The net, which has been a fixture on public land known as The Triangle on Oaklands Close in Verwood, has been used daily by local children.

Local resident and parent Nick Warne posted the photo of the broken goal on Facebook saying: “Sad to say a couple of idiots destroyed it late last night (spotted by one of the boys).

“Very selfless act, whoever you are I hope you feel ashamed.”

Since posting, other Verwood residents have offered to donate their unused goals as a replacement.
