BT has asked planning consent for the removal of the telephone box outside the Memorial Hall in Verwood.

The phone, on Ringwood Road, has only been used six times in the last 12 months.

The company say the traditional boxes are now little used, and has also asked to decommission one at Dales Drive in Colehill, Wimborne.

BT claims mobile coverage with the main providers in both areas is “good”.

Public comments on the proposal to remove the boxes can be made before mid-September to Dorset Council. The planning reference number is P/NOTP/2023/04763.
