Police launch appeal for information following Verwood Flameburst attack

A photo has been issued by Dorset Police showing the group of young males wanted in connection with an assault at Flameburst last week.

It is hoped anyone who recognises the boys in the image will contact Police with more information.

It was reported that a group of male young people attempted to gain entry to Flameburst while the event was closing on Saturday night.

A male volunteer – aged in his 70s – refused them entry and was subsequently assaulted by the group, causing him to fall to the floor. A second man attempted to help the victim, but was punched to the side of the head.

Both men sustained injuries that are not believed to be serious and attended hospital for treatment.

Here’s the full video of the attack sent to VerwoodToday by the event organisers. Viewer discretion is advised.

Police Constable Rhianna Sly, of East Dorset police, said: “The violence demonstrated during this incident is completely unacceptable and we are doing all we can to support the victims and identify those responsible.

“Our enquiries are continuing and I would urge anyone who was at the event and saw what happened to please come forward.

“I have obtained a CCTV image of the suspects and while it is of very low quality, I would like to issue it in the hope that it may jog someone’s memory.

“Also, I am appealing to anyone within the vicinity who may have captured the group on CCTV footage and may be able to assist my enquiries.

“The local neighbourhood policing team is fully aware and can be approached by anyone with any information or concerns.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55230171448. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
