Flooding and lightning in Verwood following the arrival of Storm Ciaran

Verwood had a night of stormy weather and multiple lightning strikes above the town resulting in flooding on the roads this morning.

As Storm Ciaran arrived on Wednesday, lightningmaps.org reported around a dozen close flashes of light and rumbles of thunder between midnight and 1am, with car and house alarms being triggered and some fallen fences due to the severity.

Schools and school buses remain operational as usual.

As the storm passes through the area, more hazardous weather conditions are expected on Thursday afternoon with rain forecast all day along with winds of around 45 mph.
