Steve Mason exceeds fundraising target running five marathons

Over £15,000 has been raised for the MS Centre in West Parley after Verwood man Steve Mason ran five marathons in five days.

Steve started on 23rd March 2022 at 11am running around Ringwood/Verwood forest on an 8.7-mile loop, three times back to back over five consecutive days.

His fundraising target was £10,000 but thanks to all the support he received, Steve managed to hand over a cheque for £15,125.

Steve said: “I am over the moon that we managed to raise over £15,000 for such a worthy cause, I couldn’t have done it without the people around me helping me along, and the local support was brilliant.”

Deborah Trickett from the MS Centre said: “On behalf of everyone here at the MS Centre, I would like to thank Steve for his achievement. Running five marathons is in itself incredible. To raise over £15,000 is astounding.

“We also want to thank all the individuals and businesses who donated to Steve’s challenge and his friends and families who supported him through those five days.

“We are entirely self-funded, so events like this help to fund the services we provide for local people living with multiple sclerosis.”
