Volunteers wanted for monthly litter picks returning to Verwood for the summer

Litter picking is returning to Verwood and organisers are looking for volunteers to help make them a success.

The first one, this weekend, is focusing on the town center and the Recreation Ground.

If you can help, meet at Verwood Recreation Ground at 10am Saturday 24th June. All equipment is provided and it lasts about an hour. Everyone welcome but children need to be accompanied by an adult.

The July litter pick, to be held on Saturday 29th at 10am will meet at the Skate Park at Potterne.

Cllr Simon Gibson, who has been running the litter picks for a number of years said: “Verwood is a beautiful place and I am always hugely grateful to everyone that gives up some time to help keep it that way.

“Littering is bad for the environment and bad for the town. We litter pick in different areas each month. If you have any particular areas that need attention, please do let me know.”

To report any areas that need litter picking, please contact Simon – cllr.gibson@hotmail.co.uk or Verwood Town Council on 01202 820880.
