A man in his 40s from West Moors was airlifted to hospital on Monday following a single vehicle road traffic collision near Bournemouth Airport.

The incident was reported to police at 4.47pm on Monday 28 August 2023 and happened on Matchams Lane close to Hurn Post Office at the junction of Avon Causeway.

It involved a single vehicle – a silver 3 Series BMW Coupe, which the man was driving.

Sergeant Mike Gatfield, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision. I would like to hear from any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police.

“Also, I would urge anyone who might have captured relevant dashcam footage to please contact us.

“I would also like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closure, which was necessary to enable us to conduct our investigation.”

Surrounding roads were closed for a period of time as a result.
