Verwood experienced winds of up to 88mph during Storm Eunice on Friday morning but escaped any major damage.

The B3072 Verwood Road near Potterne Park was partly blocked around lunchtime and roadwork barriers fell over on Newtown Road but no reports of serious damage have yet been received.

As residents cooperated with advice to stay indoors, the town looked as quiet as it did during the first Lockdown in 2020 but with the addition of fallen wheelie bins, garden fences and knocked-over parking cones.
