An area of land around 10 metres by 10 metres on fire at Stephens Castle in Verwood has been dealt with by fire crews on Tuesday evening.

The team were called out just before 8pm to the gorse at the nature reserve.

At the time of publishing, Verwood firefighters are on scene using a hose reel jet and beaters.

Smoke and ash could be seen around the town centre at around 7.30pm.

The crew were joined by a 4×4 appliance from Cranborne and left the location just after 9pm.
