Two footways in Verwood are set to close temporarily to allow essential electrical works to take place.
Dorset Council has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 prohibiting all users from proceeding along Squirrel Walk and the footway between 6 to 8 Burnbake Road and 11 Newtown Lane.
The Order comes into effect on 8 February 2026 and can remain in force for up to 18 months. However, the works are expected to be completed by 10 April 2026. Only one footway closure will be in place at any one time and access for residents will be maintained.
The restrictions are required to comply with health and safety regulations, ensuring safe working areas and reducing risk to highway users.
The works will allow Enerveo to overlay existing faulting low voltage cable.
