Memories of Verwood’s former railway line will be brought back to life during a talk at the Verwood Heathland Heritage Centre next month.
The event on Wednesday 22 April at 7pm will explore the history of the railway in Verwood and its wider role in the development of the country’s rail network.
Organisers say the evening will appeal to anyone who remembers travelling from Verwood Station, watching trains pass by from the Albion Inn, or anyone with an interest in railway history.
Chris Thorne, promote the event, said it holds a special personal connection.
He said: “As a small boy my grandfather used to take me to the station and we would sit and watch the trains coming and going.”
He added that those moments are among his earliest memories and that it will be special to hear the story of the railway in Verwood brought to life.
Tickets are available from the Verwood Heathland Heritage Centre café. More details are available on verwood.org.
