Verwood Rotary Club donates £3k to Dementia UK

The Verwood Rotary Club has presented a cheque for three thousand pounds to Dementia UK following a series of fund raising events.

The money was raised via raffles, coffee mornings and a Swing Band Dance.

Clare Hughes, Dementia UK Ambassador, joined the club for an evening in June and gave an engaging talk on how the charity is able to support those living with dementia and their families.

In a monthly update, club president Louisa Hiscock also mentioned the success of the beer tent organised by Verwood Town Council and run by the team.

They also took part in Rotary’s KidsOut Day, with the club supporting a day trip to Marwell Zoo for children from the Sheiling School. This national day out has been running since 1990 for children living with health issues, special needs or in refuge.

Louisa writes: “There is no time to rest with the Rustic Fayre coming up on August Bank Holiday Monday at Potterne Park. We hope for sunshine and community support for this annual event. All the favourites will be there as well as new attractions – please put the date in your diary!”
