Verwood Mayor visits local care home to help raise funds

Mayor of Verwood Councillor Toni Coombs was amongst the special guests at Verwood House Care Home recently to help raise money for charity.

The event, attended by about 20 people from the community, included a grand tea and was held to raise funds for the Trussell Trust as well as collect food items to help those in need.

Special guests also included Cllr Charmaine Crossley of Verwood Town Council.

The Trussell Trust supports a nationwide network of food banks and provides emergency food and support to people facing hardship. It also runs a campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK. At the end of the day the charity had collected donations as well as boxes full of food.

Cllr Coombs said she was ‘impressed’ by the event.

Wellbeing & Lifestyle Coach Emilia Turner said: “We had a lovely afternoon and were delighted that the Mayor as well as Cllr Crossley were able to attend the event.

“We are always grateful for their support, and we cannot wait to invite people back in for the next event.

“Our chef Ramon and the catering team prepared traditional scones and cakes to support the event.”
