Two men have been jailed after admitting money laundering offences at Bournemouth Crown Court.
Shane David Manny Chapman, 36, of Verwood, and Christopher James Mills, 37, of Ringwood, were sentenced yesterday after Dorset Police investigated their finances through its Serious Organised Crime Team, following arrests in February 2024.
Both men pleaded guilty to offences relating to the laundering of criminal property, which were brought under Section 327 of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 following further enquiries by police.
Chapman was given three years and four months in prison for laundering £152,378 between January 2022 and February 2024, while Mills was jailed for two years and 10 months for laundering £88,737 during the same period.
Bournemouth Crown Court also granted Serious Crime Prevention Orders against both defendants, which will begin when they are released from custody and are designed to restrict and disrupt future criminal activity.
Detective Constable Ade Stocker said money laundering “enables organised criminality to flourish” by disguising criminal funds, and added that “the movement of criminal property remains a serious offence in its own right”.
