Officers investigating a reported assault in Verwood that left a man with a broken jaw are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
Dorset Police received a report at just before one o'clock on Saturday afternoon that a man in his 30s had been assaulted in the gravel car park at Verwood Town Football Club.
It was reported that the victim had been involved in a verbal dispute with another man, who then proceeded to punch him in the face, causing two fractures to his jaw and damaging his glasses.
Following enquiries, a man aged in his 30s from West Parley was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and criminal damage. He has been released under investigation as officers carry out further enquiries.
