Traffic to return to A31 westbound carriageway later this month

There will be some overnight closures of the A31 at Ringwood later this month allowing traffic to return to the westbound carriageway.

Overnight on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 October the A31 will be closed westbound between M27 Junction 1 at Cadnam and the A338 Ashley Heath Roundabout whilst the following night on Sunday 23 October the A31 eastbound will be closed between the A338 Ashley Heath Roundabout and M27 Junction 1 at Cadnam.

Then from Monday 24 to Friday 28 October, the Ringwood Flyover will be closed in both directions overnight, but traffic will be diverted off and on again at the Ringwood junction.

This short diversion means traffic will once again be able to use the westbound entry sliproad at Ringwood overnight, but only during this week whilst kerb, drainage and barrier installation in the central reservation work is carried out.

It will be closed during the day and return to being closed on 28 October.

The exit sliproad for Verwood on the A31 westbound will remain closed until the end of the work, still scheduled for completion by November.

In the latest update, National Highways says: “We’ve finished waterproofing the River Avon bridge and are now carrying out earthworks around the abutments (supports for the bridge deck). Waterproofing is continuing on the Bickerley Millstream bridge, and surfacing and barrier installation is taking place on the A31 west of the bridges.”
