Residents and staff at Verwood House Care Home have handed packages of food to a local charity reaching people in need this winter.

Verwood House’s Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coach Emilia Turner said she had been overwhelmed by the generosity of the residents, their families and staff with their donation to Second Chance Community Support.

She said: “Unfortunately there is a growing need in our community as the cost-of-living crisis bites, and it’s very important to all of us here at Verwood House to reach out and support those who may be going through challenging times.

“We are also very grateful to the volunteers for providing a valuable local service.

“Putting our food collection together has given us a lot of happiness thinking that this could be enjoyed by others, giving them a little light in times of need.”

Second Chance Community Support offer time and resources to support vulnerable members of the community. It is run by local people keen to reach out to help others.

Shelley Rose, who runs the Second Chance Community support, said: “We are incredibly grateful for ongoing support from Verwood House.

“We are very touched that residents, their families and staff at Verwood House have made this generous gesture.”
