Verwood House Care Home turned into Spa for Valentine’s Day

Residents and staff at Verwood House Care Home celebrated friendships and self-care over romance on Valentine’s Day.

They decided to enjoy their friendships and focus on well-being and togetherness.

Staff at the Ringwood Road home turned a lounge into a luxury spa giving everyone a chance to enjoy some relaxing therapies including hand massages and facials whilst chatting to friends.

Resident Mavis Owen, aged 84, said: “I have enjoyed this, it’s nice to spend time with friends you know.”

Fellow resident Jean Oliver, aged 91, said: “A bit of a pamper session always feels nice. I have always valued my friends, there is nothing more important than having a good friend.”

Verwood’s Wellbeing & Lifestyle Coach Emilia Turner told VerwoodToday: “Therapeutic activities are always popular at Verwood House, hand massages or a trip to hair salon creates an opportunity for relaxation therapy.

“We have used Valentine’s Day celebrations as an opportunity for mini-pampering sessions. This is about giving everyone a well-deserved lift.

“But we also wanted to get away from the notion that Valentine’s Day has to be about romance, it’s so often our friends that get us through life.”

Verwood House Care Home is part of the Hamberley Care Homes Group which operates care homes in the UK.
