Verwood’s older residents offer tips for young lovers on Valentine’s Day

Residents at a Verwood care home have been sharing their tips of love with younger generations in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

The group from Verwood House Care Home on Ringwood Road were happy to pass on their years of experience when they sat down to a Valentine’s meal at their home.

And top tips included lots of cuddles, honesty and being happy.

Resident Margaret Pearson, aged 89, said: “I would always say to people, never go to bed on an argument and never ever tell lies and always be honest with each other.”

Fellow resident Eunice Whipp, aged 89, couldn’t agree more with Margaret and added: “Never go to bed on an argument and give lots of cuddles!”

Jean West, aged 93, was very practical about her advice and said: “Find something to love about them for a long time.”

Dorothy Manners, aged 93, simply said: “Be happy.”

Betty Emery, aged 95, said: “Try them out, wear them out!”

Verwood House’s Wellbeing Coach Emilia Turner said: “I have learned so much by listening to the residents talk about relationships. They have so much good advice, and it always comes from the heart.”
