New plans for 1300 Verwood homes

Over 1300 new homes could be built in Verwood if plans over the next 20 years get the go ahead.

Residents are being urged to take part in two major consultations that will shape the way the county grows.

The new houses could be built on the Crane Valley Golf site, along with other areas around the town.

The proposal says the new homes would need to be served by public transport and a loop road would be recommended.

  • Crane Valley Golf Club – 984 homes
  • North of Edmondsham Road – 139 homes
  • Land West of Manor Road – 195 homes
  • Land to the west of Albany Drive, Three Legged Cross – 118 homes

In total, over 30,000 new homes could be built in Dorset over the next 20 years.

Plans also include Suitable Alternative Natural Green Spaces. This would provide space for recreation for both residents and the wider community, while helping to limit additional pressure on nearby protected heathland sites in line with Natural England requirements.

Residents can take part online at dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/dorset-is-changing.
