Newtown Road in Verwood will close temporarily later this month to allow carriageway maintenance and resurfacing works to take place.
Dorset Council has issued a Notice under Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984. The restriction is required to provide a safe working area and reduce the risk of danger to highway users.
The closure will come into force on 27 January 2026 between 9am and 4pm and can remain in place for up to five days, although the works are expected to be completed on the same day.
The Notice imposes a temporary road closure on Newtown Road, Verwood, with a clearway and parking suspension also in place as indicated by signs on site. Waiting and parking on the highway along the affected stretch will not be permitted during the works.
Anyone who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the Notice may be liable on summary conviction to a fine of up to £1,000.
Further information about the works and access arrangements is available from Dorset Highways Operations on 01305 221800.
