Charging cables cut and stolen from Verwood Lidl

Electric vehicle drivers who usually charge while shopping at Lidl in Verwood will currently find the chargers out of action after cables were cut and removed.

The connector cables were completely cut off and taken from the charging station in the supermarket car park at the end of February. The damage has left the chargers unusable until repairs can be carried out.

It is not yet clear when the chargers will return to service.

The incident is believed to be part of a wider problem, with similar thefts reported at other charging locations in the area, including the LEAP24 unit near Morrisons.

Alternative chargers in Verwood include at The Hub and Potters Wheel Car Park.

Morrisons installed EV chargers when the new supermarket opened but these have not worked since 2017, and have since been removed.
