Verwood Book Fair returns with local authors

A wide range of local authors and book-related businesses are set to take part in the upcoming Verwood Book Fair later this month.

The event will be held at Verwood Memorial Hall on Saturday 23 May from 9am to 12.30pm, with organisers again bringing together writers, sellers and community projects under one roof.

Alongside the stalls, there will be a charity book sale raising funds for local reading initiatives, with organisers still accepting donations of children’s books ahead of the day.

Among those attending is Pankaj Sulodia, a local author and teacher whose children’s stories are shaped by his work with young people.

Penny Rogers will also be there, sharing her work in short stories, flash fiction and poetry, following the publication of her novel Amelie at the Window.

Cover to Cover Bookbinders will be present on the day, offering handmade notebooks, journals and book restoration services created using traditional techniques.

Visitors will also be able to meet Janine Pulford, author of seven novels spanning multiple genres, including her latest release Paws in the Flood.

Carol Waterkeyn will be there with her range of feel-good fiction and children’s stories, while Debs Pharoah Pink will be showcasing her illustrated children’s book A Squirrel’s Tale.

Fantasy author Paul Cude is set to attend, bringing his White Dragon Saga series, which follows epic adventures filled with magic and conflict.

Steve Couch will also be there, known for his character-led thrillers, with his latest work due for release later this year.

Organisers say the fair aims to support local writers and encourage a wider interest in reading, with free entry and parking available nearby.

Visitors are invited to attend throughout the morning and explore the range of books and creative work on offer.
