ATM cash recovered after Verwood break-in

A quantity of cash has been recovered after an ATM was broken into at Tesco in Verwood overnight.

Police were called to the Express store in Ringwood Road at 11.23pm on Friday 8 May after an alarm sounded at the store.

When officers arrived, it was reported that an ATM had been broken into and cash stolen.

Dorset Police said some of the cash was later found nearby, although the force has not confirmed how much was taken.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are continuing.

Detective Inspector Rich Barnett, of Dorset County CID, said: “We are continuing to carry out detailed enquiries into this incident and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area on the evening of Friday 8 May 2026 to please contact us.

“From our enquiries, we believe the offenders travelled in a blue or grey BMW.

“I would urge any residents in the area with home CCTV systems or doorbell cameras, as well as any motorists with dashcam who were in the vicinity around the relevant timeframe, to please review their footage to see if they may have captured this vehicle or the occupants.”
