Roadworks for three weeks on Verwood Road

Roadworks for three weeks on Verwood Road

Temporary traffic lights are being set up on Verwood Road near landfill site with work expected to last three weeks.

Hampshire County Council is carrying out drainage repairs to existing systems, ditches and ponds.

Yellow warning signs will be erected to let road users know the exact times and dates the works will take place.

Delays are expected between Verwood and Ringwood, especially at peak times.

The lights should not affect school transport or peak-time journeys, according to an update shared by Councillor Toni Coombs.

The lights are expected to stay on green for the B3081 and should only switch to red when an HGV needs to enter or leave the site.

A permit condition states there should be “no stopping of traffic on B3081” between 7.30am and 9.30am, and between 4pm and 6pm on weekdays.

Councillor Coombs said the brief all-red phase should only be used outside those hours and only when an HGV needs access.

If the licence holder does not comply, time-stamped video or photographic evidence would be needed before a fixed penalty notice could be issued.

The update is intended to reassure residents that school transport and peak-time traffic should not be affected.
