It’s all quiet on the Greggs front as the company refuses to provide an update on when its new Verwood outlet will be built.
Planning permission was granted in February despite opposition, and an opening soon banner was erected at the Morrisons filling station shortly afterwards.
The Food Standards Agency lists Greggs at Unit 1, Chiltern Drive, with the registration dated 5 May 2026 and the premises currently shown as awaiting inspection
Asked for an update, a Greggs spokesperson gave a generic responce to VerwoodToday, saying the company is always looking into new shop locations, adding: “While we are unable to confirm anything at the moment, we will share any information in due course.”
Forecourt operator MFG has also been contacted for information but no details have been shared.
The approved plans allow for a separate Greggs shop in a newly built extension to the right of the petrol station’s existing retail area. The development will replace two staff parking spaces.
Several residents objected to the application before it was approved, raising concerns about traffic at the forecourt and access to the supermarket entrance. Others questioned whether Verwood needed another bakery.
The May registration suggests preparations have continued since permission was granted, but until Greggs confirms the project, there is still no firm opening date or public timetable for the Verwood branch.
