Verwood Rotary charity funding window closes soon

Community groups, charities and local organisations in Verwood have just one week left to apply for funding from the town’s Rotary Club, following the success of this year’s Rustic Fayre.

Applications for financial support must be submitted by Saturday 24 October, with money raised at the annual event available to help good causes across Verwood and surrounding areas.

Verwood Rotary Club has confirmed that the Rustic Fayre, held at Potterne Park on August Bank Holiday Monday, raised an impressive £12,500.

The club is inviting applications from groups and organisations seeking support for projects that make the local community a safer, healthier and more vibrant place to live.

The funding could provide valuable assistance to community initiatives, voluntary organisations and charities working to improve life in the area.

This year’s Rustic Fayre attracted crowds to Potterne Park for a day of entertainment, activities and fundraising.

Former AFC Bournemouth chairman Jeff Mostyn officially opened the event, arriving in the arena by steam engine alongside Verwood Mayor Councillor Simon Gibson, Rotary president Andy Maw and town crier David Craner.

Attractions included a BMX stunt team, taekwondo demonstrations, mini-horses, classic vehicles, live music, stalls and the traditional duck races.

The event was supported by local businesses, volunteers and residents, with the money raised going towards charitable causes and Rotary projects.

Rotary club member Louisa Hiscock thanked those who helped make the event possible, saying: “We’d like to give a big thank you to all our sponsors and volunteers on the day – we really could not organise such a big community event without their support every year.”

Verwood Rotary has a long history of supporting local groups, organisations and individuals through financial donations and practical assistance.

Successful funding applicants will be invited to a presentation evening at Verwood Hub on Wednesday 18 November.

Anyone wishing to apply must complete the funding application form and return it before the 24 October deadline.

Further information and application forms are available from the Verwood Rotary Club website.
