The A338 will be closed southbound this Sunday evening (8th May) from 8pm till 6am Monday morning for maintenance work between Ashley Heath Roundabout and the Blackwater junction at Hurn.

Dorset Council says the road may be closed every night next week but anticipates all the required work will be completed on the first night.

The northbound side will then be closed for at least one night following the work on the southbound side from 10th May, possible for two nights.

The maintenance, including gully cleansing, litter picking, safety fence inspections and removal of overgrown vegetation is weather dependent and will be carried out in partnership with BCP Council.

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed section, and emergency access will be maintained at all times.
