If you like to visit the Play Trail at Moors Valley Country Park, be aware of diversions in place as improvement works get under way. A musical play structure, two forest shelters and a redesigned Timber! feature are all set to be introduced.

Car found in search for missing east Dorset man

Officers searching for a missing man from Holt have found his vehicle in the Purbeck area. Dorset Police received a report raising concern for the welfare of 51 year-old Mark Street, who was last seen leaving an address in the Holt area, at around 6pm on Wednesday evening. His blue Mercedes was found yesterday near Swanage and Police are renewing their appeal for information.

Pedestrian in his 80s dies following collision in West Moors

A man in his 80s has died after sustaining serious injuries in a collision involving a car in West Moors. The incident happened just after 7.30am this morning when Police received a report of a collision involving a black Nissan X-Trail and a pedestrian in Station Road, close to the junction with Glenwood Road. Emergency services attended and the road was closed until the early afternoon to allow for a detailed examination of the scene to take place.

Christmas Tree Recycling Scheme returns to collect your tree in January

Julia's House Christmas Tree Recycling Scheme is back for its 4th year in January to collect trees. The charity collected and recycled around 2,090 trees from last Christmas, raising £17,232 in donations from people whose trees were collected.

An East Dorset councillor has called for improvements to bus services in the area. Cllr Barry Goringe says that the 7,600 residents in his ward, St Leonards & St Ives, are isolated if they cannot drive.

Verwood man suffers serious injuries after collision near Wimborne

A 21-year-old man from Verwood was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a road traffic collision near Wimborne last night. Dorset Police received a report at around half past six about the incident on Cranborne Road near the Horton Inn, involving a blue Nissan Qashqai and a red Triumph Toledo. The driver of the Toledo was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment whilst the driver and passengers of the Nissan sustained minor injuries. Police are appealing for witnesses.

More Dorset Council-sponsored electric vehicle chargers installed and going live

New electric vehicle charging points have now been installed in West Moors and Cerne Abbas, thanks to help from Dorset Council. The new chargers, located in car parks at Park Way, West Moors and Kettle Bridge, Cerne Abbas, are set to go live in the coming weeks and have been installed as part of the council’s Charging Ahead programme.

Verwood councillor gets approval to ban live animals as prizes on Dorset Council land

Live animals will no longer be legally be offered as prizes on Dorset Council owned land. A motion from Verwood councillor Toni Coombs was approved almost unanimously after she made the plea at the October full council meeting.
