Improvements works are currently taking place at Harlees Fish and Chip shop in Verwood to install a more energy-efficient fryer and solar panels on its roof.
The changes mean the shop is currently closed but the owners hope it will be back open before the weekend.
The chippy applied and was accepted for a Dorset Carbon Grant, which can be used by any Dorset business towards improving their carbon footprint.
Director Kaylee Herbert told VerwoodToday: “We applied for funding for 6 kWp PV (solar panels) on the roof of the shop and a new Kiremko (KFE) frying range to replace our range that was 17 years old.
“Our new range has a bigger capacity and updated technology making it more energy-efficient, reducing our gas usage. These projects together will deliver a carbon saving of 10.6 tonnes CO2e p.a.”

Also, part of a wall in the shop car park was knocked down recently when a customer decided to accelerate instead of reverse by accident.
