The Hub celebrates Red Nose Day with fund-raising activities

Wear something red and come down to the Hub on Red Nose Day – that’s the call from the Verwood Hub today!

The Hub is holding an all-day long fund-raising event with activities for all the family in support of Comic Relief. There is a range of sponsored fitness exercises to musical activities and craft challenges taking place all day long.

Exercises include Friday Fun Fitness, sponsored Yoga and Pilates classes, a Mindfulness class along with a beat your personal best gym challenge for Hub gym members. For those that are musical there is a sponsored “UkeAthon” session with the U3A ukulele group – bring your ukulele and play along – and a sponsored afternoon tea with piano recitals.

Make a donation and take part in arts and crafts activities including jewellery making, sugar craft and biscuit decorating. Younger members of the community can make a donation to show a photo of their pet with a red nose drawn on it or take part in a colouring in challenge – both of which have a “best in show” prize of two cinema tickets (1 adult and 1 child – valid for a year).

For those that simply want to donate and relax the Hub will be running a cake sale and a ‘colour red’ themed raffle and tombola. There is also a bouncy castle and soft play session followed by a teatime story of “The Tiger Who Came to Tea”.

For anyone who wants to take away a souvenir of the day there is a photo booth, or you can have a caricature drawn by one of the U3A art group!

A spokesperson for the Hub said “We really have something for everyone on Red Nose Day from the young to the young at heart, for the super fit to those that want to put their feet up and chill and for those who are musical and craft inspired. We are particularly looking forward to seeing the pet photos as we all love our pets at the Hub!”
