Chef surprises Verwood residents with special pancake tower

A chef at a Verwood care home has surprised residents with a pancake tower.

Chef Mark Albray encouraged residents at Verwood House Care Home to roll their sleeves up on Pancake Day to create the colourful treat.

But it was his grand creation that grew and grew so much that it left residents stunned.

Mark said: “Pancake Day is one of the most fun days of the year, and you can really get creative with pancakes which are actually very easy to make.”

Although Mark is not giving away his secret ingredient, he did share his method with residents and a top tip to add in generous portions of cream.

Mark added: “Lots of colour and multiple layers, that is sure to impress! Although I suspect that I made a few too many layers, and my pancake tower grew and grew.

This year’s Pancake Day has been a lot of fun at Verwood House, and once everyone was in the kitchen sharing cooking tips, it was like something out of a TV foodie show, but much calmer!”
