Emergency roadworks have closed the B3081 Ringwood Road in both directions to all vehicles.

The urgent work started this week with temporary traffic lights in place but following initial inspections, Wessex Water says the road now needs to be fully closed till 24th February.

The closure is near Virginia Close and access to Ebblake is maintained, although Road Closed signs are now in place at the Ringwood Road / Blackhill junction.

Updating local residents via Facebook, Councillor Toni Coombs said excavations are now required into the middle of the carriageway on B3081 Verwood Road.

“Wessex Water will not be able to maintain sufficient space to allow vehicles past the works and so a road closure will need to be installed this afternoon.

“Weekend working has been arranged to progress repairs – however, due to the nature of the activity, the current estimated end date remains the same as previously advised (24 Feb) and could be subject to change.

“The road will be closed on the B3081 around Virginia Close; and the diversion will be signed via B3072 Home Farm Road – Verwood Road – Ringwood Road (Three Legged Cross) – Horton Road and the A31.”

The diversion route has also been closed all this week but has now reopened, albeit with new temporary traffic lights at Three Legged Cross.
