14 year old boy arrested following multiple incidents in Verwood

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary, criminal damage and theft whilst another 16-year-old is due to attend for voluntary interview.

The 14-year-old was released on police bail while enquiries continue into reports of persistent anti-social behaviour in Verwood.

They were both visited by officers following two recent incidents.

On Tuesday 14 February 2023 it is alleged that entry was attempted to be gained to a building in Copse Road. No entry was gained and nothing was stolen.

A second incident is reported to have occurred at around 9pm on Saturday 18 February 2023 at Tesco Express in Ringwood Road. It is reported that a member of staff asked two boys to leave the store, before being subsequently assaulted. No injuries were sustained. Damage was reportedly caused to a box containing charity tokens.

Dorset Police said: “We are aware that the public voiced their concerns at a community engagement event last month and we have been working hard to tackle the reported issue.

“The investigations into both incidents remain ongoing at this time and officers from the local neighbourhood policing team can be approached by anyone with any information or concerns.”
