Revised plans submitted for Verwood dementia care home

Plans for a part three/part four-story dementia care home with new vehicular access and parking provision in Verwood Town Centre have been revised.

The new plan proposed the same height with 38 bedrooms

There are no changes to the amount of car parking spaces included in the site plan, even after complaints were received by local residents that 12 was not enough.

At the time of publication, at least half a dozen letters of objections have been submitted to Dorset Council, saying the size of the building in that plot is too big, and that the narrow roads in the area would not cope with the traffic needed to provide facilities of a care home.

The applicant wants to demolish the buildings on Edmondsham Road (numbers 5, 7 and 7a), to the side/rear of Irving and Sons Estate Agents off Station Road.

The Highways Authority has requested an extension of time to the normal consultation period in order for the implications of the proposal can be properly assessed.
