A fire around the Stephens Castle area in Verwood has attracted response vehicles from around the area.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service received a call at 3.49pm on Wednesday afternoon about a fire in the open near Stephen’s Castle.

Crews from Cranborne, Verwood, Wimborne and Ringwood attended alongside small 4×4 pumping appliances also from Verwood and Ringwood.

The incident involved an area of gorse and trees measuring approximately 60m x 30m.

The fire was extinguished using two main jets and two hose reel jets. Firefighters are still on the scene dampening down at the time of updating, at 18.30.
