Police attend incident in Verwood with two people injured

Emergency services have attended an incident in Verwood on Friday afternoon where at least two people were injured.

Residents witnessed multiple Police cars and officers attended along with the Ambulance service.

Police say a man sustained injuries whilst a woman was reportedly assaulted and sustained a cut to her nose.

The incident happened around Pennine Way following an apparent disturbance in a local public house.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: “We received a report at 4.33pm of a disturbance in Pennine Way in Verwood. It was reported that a man had sustained injuries.

“Officers attended, along with the ambulance service and the injured man is receiving treatment for his injuries. We do not have an update on his condition at this time.

“It was further reported that a woman was assaulted and sustained a cut to her nose.

“Officers have been carrying out searches of the area and a man was arrested on suspicion of assault in the area of Newtown Road.

“Enquiries are ongoing, we are unable to give any further information at this time.”
