Electric car crashes into electricity sub station at Lidl Verwood

A car crashed into the electricity substation located at Lidl supermarket in Verwood on Sunday afternoon.

The electric vehicle can be seen with its bonnet inside the unit, which powers the electric car charges located nearby.

Verwood fire station crew attended the incident and administered first aid to one casualty.

A spokesperson said: “This afternoon we were alerted to an RTC at Lidl in Verwood. On arrival we found a car had hit the electricity sub station within the car park.

“The crew cordoned off the area and administered first aid to one casualty.

“We stayed in attendance until the electricity board arrived. The car was removed from the substation and left in the hands of the Contractors.”

Parts of Verwood also experienced power cuts on Sunday afternoon.
