Verwood Town Council is seeking applicants for one voluntary co-option seat in Stephens Castle Ward. The deadline is 13 February 2026, with selection at the 24 February council meeting.
Temporary footway closures for cable works
Two Verwood footways will close from 8 February 2026 for cable works by Enerveo. Closures could last up to 18 months but are expected to finish by 10 April, with resident access maintained.

Car found in search for missing east Dorset man
Officers searching for a missing man from Holt have found his vehicle in the Purbeck area.
Dorset Police received a report raising concern for the welfare of 51 year-old Mark Street, who was last seen leaving an address in the Holt area, at around 6pm on Wednesday evening.
His blue Mercedes was found yesterday near Swanage and Police are renewing their appeal for information.
Pedestrian in his 80s dies following collision in West Moors
A man in his 80s has died after sustaining serious injuries in a collision involving a car in West Moors.
The incident happened just after 7.30am this morning when Police received a report of a collision involving a black Nissan X-Trail and a pedestrian in Station Road, close to the junction with Glenwood Road.
Emergency services attended and the road was closed until the early afternoon to allow for a detailed examination of the scene to take place.
Christmas Tree Recycling Scheme returns to collect your tree in January
Julia's House Christmas Tree Recycling Scheme is back for its 4th year in January to collect trees.
The charity collected and recycled around 2,090 trees from last Christmas, raising £17,232 in donations from people whose trees were collected.

Man charged and due to appear in court in connection with fatal road traffic collision in East Dorset last year
A man has been charged and is due to appear in court in connection with a fatal road traffic collision in East Dorset.
At around 9.30pm on the 16th September last year, Dorset Police received a report of a collision in Hurn Road, between Ringwood and Matchams, when a blue BMW 1 series left the carriageway and sustained extensive damage.
A passenger in the vehicle – named by her family as 18-year-old Laionie Kennard from Verwood – sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man aged in his 20s from Wiltshire was arrested in connection with the incident and has now been charged with causing death by careless/inconsiderate driving.
He's due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on the 20th of December.
