Cameras installed at Verwood Recreation ground by Dorset Council

Dorset Council has installed cameras at Verwood Recreation ground in the town centre.

The move is to try and combat anti-social behaviour, of which there has been an increasing amount in recent months.

In a post on Facebook, Dorset Police says: “Dorset Council have installed CCTV in the area of Verwood Recreation ground to try and combat increasing ASB.”

Dorset Police has increased patrols around the Recreation Ground opposite Tesco, Bugdens Copse, and around Potterne Park, to keep the areas safe for residents following complaints of anti-social behaviour.

A few weeks ago the Verwood Concert Brass band hall was subject to vandalism and last month considerable damage was caused to three football pitches at Potterne Park.

Residents are urged to report suspicious activity to 101 or to call 999 in an emergency.
